ADMINISTRATION         ECONOMICS

     ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION        NATIONAL DEFENCE

Faculty of Administration was established in 1996 and its inauguration took place in 1997. The faculty offers 3- year undergraduate studies in administration in several specialist subject areas, including public administration, non-public administration, transactions in real estate and property management, and administration of public security.

004 wnsitFaculty of Administration also offers postgraduate studies, including local and regional management, administration of self-government, and banking and insurance.
During three-year studies students are provided with a wide knowledge on the management of human resources in public administration of a higher level (in communes, districts, voivodships at the central level), as well as in institutions and organisations dealing with insurance, banking, finance, and supervising and controlling institutions. Improvement of the knowledge of foreign languages, access to computer techniques, obtaining knowledge on methods of social research, becoming familiar with using specialist literature are main advantages of studying at the administration faculty.

Faculty of Economics started its operations in the academic year of 1997/1998. At first, its activities were limited to offering 3-year undergraduate studies, full time and part time only. Now students can choose from many up-to-date specialist subjects, including application of computers in business, economics and management of a small and medium-size company, municipal and self-government economics, company logistics, public finance and accountancy and rural areas economy. Establishment of the Faculty of Economics resulted from the development of KSW and its plans for expansion, connected with the creation of new faculties in response to the educational demand and challenges of the last few years in Poland. Cuiavian University in Włocławek, pursuing its mission to create an academic institution in Kujawy region, has widened its offer of studies at highly specialised faculties so as to help young people get their first jobs, with regards to Poland’s integration with the European Union.

Graduates of Economics have the necessary knowledge of economics, skills in modern computer technology and knowledge of foreign languages (English, German, Russian, Spanish or French). Graduates can also apply for jobs with independent positions in all kinds of companies: trading companies, financial and insurance companies, consultancy companies, banks or public and self government administration institutions.

The indispensable element of education in this profession is a very good knowledge of
English, which is the fundamental and common means of media communication as well as the language in which most software and technical documentation is written.
Emphasis is put on the practical application of the knowledge acquired during the studies. To this end, students do internships in companies and computer science-oriented institutions. It enables the graduates to become specialists, excellently prepared for professional work.
The Faculty also offers postgraduate studies in computer sciences and information technology, European integration and entrepreneurship for teachers, and others.

The first inauguration of an academic year in the Faculty of Environmental Protection took place in the autumn of 1999. The Faculty offers 3.5-year, full time and part time, undergraduate bachelor’s degree studies in environmental protection. Department of Environmental Protection was granted approval to offer studies by the State Accreditation Committee. Students can choose between two specialisations: environment protection systems and landscape shaping. The Faculty also runs postgraduate studies. The idea to create this Faculty came from consistent pursuit of the University’s mission, which is provision of relevant frameworks for inhabitants of Kujawy-Pomerania voivodship to obtain higher education and improve their professional skills in the most wanted professions in the regional labour market. Faculty of Environmental Protection was granted a positive evaluation by the State Accreditation Committee in 2004.

Research undertaken by scholars of the Faculty, split in two Scientific Divisions (Division of Chemistry of the Environment and Division of Protection and Landscape Shaping), refers to up-to-date environmental protection issues connected mainly with Kujawy Pomerania Region. Kujawy-Pomerania voivodship is a region with a diverse natural environment, which results from the fact that it is crossed by various natural frontiers, i.e. geological, geo- morphological, climatic, hydro-graphic, geo-botanical, fauna frontiers as well as wildlife and forests. The Area of the voivodship has a particular place in ECONET-POLAND, a national net based on the Vistula valley, being the ecological passageway of international importance. Another passageway of international importance is the valley of the Noteć river, while valleys of the Drwęca, the Brda, the Noteć, the Wda, the Skrwa and the Wełna rivers, are the passageways of national importance.
Among crucial areas of international importance, the following ones should be mentioned: Tuchola Forests and region of Gopło lake, while the Forests of Gostynin-Włocławek Nature Park and the area of Brodnica and Górzeń-Lidzbark Nature Park are crucial areas of national importance. It should be noticed that the environmental situation in our region is not satisfactory. In the voivodship there is no river of the first class clarity and only one lake meets this requirement. Main reasons for such a bad condition of flowing and standing waters are the unsatisfactory equipment of cities and communities in sewage treatment plants, lack of investment in sewage system and sewage recycling infrastructure and in water-supply systems, as well as a high level of chemicals utilisation in agriculture. Similarly bad situation is in atmosphere and ground pollution, which is both visible in physical and chemical degradation. The situation is additionally complicated by the fact that in the area of voivodship, there are 106 objects potentially dangerous to the environment.

The most common problems, identified on the basis of environmental criteria, of the Kujawy-Pomerania voivodship are the following: I Lack of water sources of agriculture destination in the north-west part of region; II Complexity – from the environmental, social and economic point of view – of the ecological passageway in the Vistula valley; III Area of protected drainage basins, including drainage basins of the Drwęca and Brda rivers – in connection with provision of potable water to cities (from the Drweca to Torun and from the Brda to Bydgoszcz).
On the basis of the above brief presentation of the ecological situation of our region and selected problem areas, it can be stated that the main stream of research carried out at the Faculty of Environmental Protection at the Cuiavian University in Włocławek, concerns the ecological passageway in the area of the Vistula river.

Scope of research:

Hydro-biology of Włocławek Reservoir and planned Nieszawa Reservoir,
Bio-diversity of forests, with special emphasis on the Forests of Gostynin-Włocławek Nature Park,
Conditions of ecological basis for spatial development in the area of Kujawy-Pomerania, with special respect to Włocławek and its environment,
Development of protected areas.

Another problem, which appears very often in research works of the Faculty employees, concerns the issue of the consequences resulting from Poland’s integration with the European Union, as regards Polish standards system and regulations on environmental protection. Results of research are presented during scientific conferences and then published as part of scientific publications of KSW

In October 2010 Cuiavian University in Włocławek opened its latest department-National Defence. The main profile of the courses is Crisis Management in Administration. Graduates from this department can be employed at all levels of public administration.

By the decision of the Founder of the College – the Włocławek Scholarly Association in the academic year of 2003/2004, the Faculty of Health Sciences was founded. It is the youngest and the 6th faculty in the structure of the KSW. The faculty offers 3-year bachelor’s degree courses with a specialty of nursing and physical education. Faculty of Nursing was granted a positive evaluation of the National Accreditation Committee of Medical Education.

006 wnozPoland’s joining the Union had an impact on educational needs in various professions, including the profession of a nurse. With reference to medical professions, the faculty meets requirements of educating doctors, dentists and pharmacists, however, it does not meet requirements as for educating nurses. It is so because of obligatory, minimum three-year, higher education, and this requirement is met by professional bachelor’s degree studies.
Last year in November, the Cuiavian University in Włocławek obtained a permission from the Minister of Education and Sports to conduct nursing courses. In Włocławek and its surroundings as well as on the area of the whole Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship, a few hundred male and female nurses possess testimonials of education on a level of a secondary medical school. The latest offer of the KSW, being a response to a huge interest in this circle of people, creates opportunities of obtaining a diploma of higher professional education without the need to travel to distant academic centres. Courses are run in two modes: daytime – designed for candidates without any professional background for a job of nurse, extramural – for people with some professional background. So called “bridge courses” will be implemented from the academic year of 2004/2005 for professionally active nurses by virtue of an ordinance of the Minister of Health of 11th May 2004.

Classes at a patient’s bed and some of laboratory classes will be held at the Province Hospital in Włocławek. In the letter of intent, the Voivodship Hospital confirmed a possibility of holding professional trainings and access to laboratories of the Hospital within the scope of activities included in the course programme. Teaching staff consists of employees of the Medical College in Włocławek, academic teachers of the medical Academy in Bydgoszcz, the Medical University of Łódź and the Medical Academy in Warsaw, and also employees of the Zespół Lecznictwa Podstawowego in Włocławek, the Przedsiębiorstwo Uzdrowisko Ciechocinek S.A., the Wojskowy Szpital Uzdrowiskowo-Rehabilitacyjny SP ZOZ in Ciechocinek and the SPZOZ in Lipno.

The aim of the specialisation of physical education in the University of Humanities and Economics in Włocławek is to educate employees of sports organisations, physical training teachers for primary and secondary schools, special schools and employees of educational units implementing the programme of health education.
A graduate of three-year, professional courses of physical training should: understand physical culture, master the tools of physical training and become an example to follow.
This means that thanks to the achieved education from the range of natural and social sciences and mastering skills of teaching movement and body improvement, a graduate should possess qualifications enabling him/her to competently affect body – by physical means, and personality – by social means, in order to fulfil objective and subjective needs of pupils as for somatic-motor development and preparing them to care for health, functionality and construction of their own bodies – also after graduation from the College.
Thus it is essential to learn methods of diagnosing and prognosticating physical and mental development and a skill of programming means of education and physical training which – together with personal culture acquired during studies to become a teacher, and pedagogical sensibility – will guarantee an effective implementation of school and after-school activities within a range of physical training (after meeting additional requirements defined by separate regulations), sports, recreation and tourism of school youth.
In the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship there is a significant need for qualified pedagogical staff for implementation of a programme of physical training. Thanks to a relatively wide accessibility of sports venues and investments granted by the Włocławek authorities, in the field of physical culture, one can easily notice a need for ensuring safety and security for practicing various kinds of sports activities by the youth from schools and those from outside schools. Newly established and developing sports clubs, groups of young people training various sports require proper professional supervision which will provide safety and correct physical development.
Support of the city authorities expressed in – among others – the included letter of intent on sharing with the University of Humanities and Economics in Włocławek some sports venues, confirms the opinion of the College authorities about a need for educating specialists in physical training.

– evaluation given by the professor in charge of the students

The students who submit these documents are given a language test. Then, the qualification panel meets them and interviews are given.

After that, final decisions are taken. The formal and final list of qualified students s is published and students are informed.

When the student chooses specific subjects, a Learning Agreement is prepared as well as the rest of application documents requested by the partner institution. (i.e. Application Form, Transcript of Records)

The basic documents for the student prepared is the agreement between student and KSW.

First, the documents are faxed and then sent by ordinary mail. After placing all signatures, practical arrangements begin, such as: travel, insurance and accommodation.

During the studying period abroad we stay in contact with local programme coordinators, sometimes a monitoring visit is organized.

After the completion of the exchange period the student must show his/her Transcript of Record and Statement of Stay. If the TR guarantees the arrangements specified in the Learning Agreement, the studying period abroad is fully recognized.

VISA for foreign students

iP-m5T 16 sty , 2019 0 Comments

Students from the European Union do not need a visa to come and study in Poland. However, after the start of classes students will be required to legalize their stay in Poland by applying for a residence permit from the Immigration Unit of the Voivodship Office. The residence permit, valid for one year, must be extended each year until graduation. This permit also entitles students to work in Poland. Students from outside the European Union enter the territory of Poland on the basis of a valid travel document (passport) and a visa (if required). After their application has been positively reviewed, students will receive a recommendation letter from University of Humanities and Economics in Włocławek with which they should apply for a visa. Candidates should apply for a student visa (covering the entire period of study in Poland) at the consulate section of the Polish embassy in their country. Please note that visa requirements and application procedures vary.

Student Grading System and ECTS

About the ECTS System

The European Credit Transfer System was initially set up in 1989 as a pilot scheme within the framework of the Erasmus program. Its aim at that time was to facilitate the recognition of study periods undertaken abroad by mobile students through the transfer of credits.

A large number of countries have adopted ECTS by law as an accumulation system for their own higher education systems and others are in the process of doing so.

ECTS makes study programmes easy to read and compare. It can be used for all types of programs, whatever their mode of delivery, and for lifelong learning purposes. It serves both mobile and non-mobile students: it can be used for accumulation within an institution and for transfer between institutions. For these reasons the well-known acronym „ECTS” now stands for „European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System”.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a student-centred system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a program of study. These objectives should preferably be specified in terms of learning outcomes and competences to be acquired.

ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits measure the workload of a full-time student during one academic year. The student workload of a full-time study programme in Europe amounts in most cases to around 1500-1800 hours per year and in those cases one credit stands for around 25 to 30 working hours. Sensibly, 30 credits correspond to a study semester and 20 credits to a study trimester.

Credits in ECTS can only be obtained after successful completion of the work required and appropriate assessment of the learning outcomes achieved.

For the exams and credit test the following marks and relevant grades from ECTS system are used:

A student should pass all the courses before graduation according to the applicable syllabus. Ranking objects determined in layouts of studios and programs of the education is a base of receiving a credit for a course what is tantamount to getting the appropriate number of items of the European System of the Transfer and the Accumulation of final Points (ECTS), determined in plans of studies and programs of educating in the given semester. Not every course is followed by an examination, however each one is ending with the credit test. The base of ranking all active forms of classes (of exercises, laboratories, seminars itp) and of lectures not-ending with the examination there are positive results of the current control of the knowledge and abilities. Final ranking classes consists in the verification of effects of education. Prior ranking compulsory classes in the given object is a condition of allowing to sit an exam. Practice and sports camps constituting the integral part of a process of the education are also subject to a compulsory credit.

Program details concerning ECTS for specific university course can be obtained upon request from the International Office
