MEDICAL FACILITIES

A foreign student coming to Poland should have an E 128 form (it is a form for the exchange students studying in another member state). The form is issued by an institution being the equivalent of the National Health Fund (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia – NFZ) upon submission of required documents (the application for E 128 form, a certificate from the student’s university confirming his/her status). When using free medical care, a student should present this form to the doctor or an institution that has signed an agreement with the National Health Fund.

STUDY FACILITIES

THE LIBRARY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF HUMANITIES AND ECONOMICS (WSHE) – it is a place where the students may use a wide collection of books in order to broaden their knowledge and to follow the latest academic publications.
The inauguration of the Library at a new base at 3 Piwna Street (previously it operated together with the Academic Library of the Scientific Association in Włocławek – the founder of the University) took place on March 18, 1999. Very good conditions – the space over 200 m2 – allowed to open a Book Rental and a Reading Room with handy books collection. The library is available to all the students and employees of the University of Humanities and Economics, members of the Scientific Association in Wocawek, students from other universities and employees of other academic institutions and workplaces.
At present, the book collection of the library comprises 43 thousand volumes and it is developing rapidly. The book collection is developed mainly by purchasing recently published books. The library purchases also parts of the book collections from private individuals. They constitute a valuable source of scientific research and they are related mainly to the history of the region. Additionally, the library exchanges the duplicates with the libraries that belong to the group of libraries of non-public schools and with the libraries of public universities, e.g. the Main Library at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń or the Main Library of the Warsaw School of Economics. Many valuable books were also obtained by way of a gift from institutions and natural persons. The library also subscribes to 103 magazine titles.
A dynamic development of the University, increased number of faculties and specializations allow to collect the latest literature from the field of economics, law, management, banking, administration, pedagogics, social work, history, regional studies, environmental protection, philosophy and Polish philology. It also increases the attractiveness of the book collection. At the same time, the library makes efforts to obtain older literature that constitutes the literary canon of a particular branch of science.
Apart from the traditional materials such as books and magazines, the library offers also data basis on CD-ROMs, cassettes for foreign language studying and the Internet – worldwide information network. The library offers also photocopying services. Printing services are also available.
The Main Library of the University of Humanities and Economics in Włocławek began the academic year of 2004/2005 in a new seat. It was reopened after the summer break on October 4, 2004. The new location is situated at Plac Wolności 1. The acquired building is twice as big as the previous one at ul. Piwna 3. The students are provided with a spacious reading room for 50 people, equipped additionally with 5 computer stations with access to the Internet. In a computerized library there are 5 workstations used for browsing the catalogues. This number will increase in the near future due to the growing number of users.
There are also computers with access to the Internet in the reading room.
